Pure nostalgia. It has been years since I last played an Ace Attorney game and just hearing that typewriter brought pure happiness. This game really heralds you back to the first game, by keeping the gameplay simple. There are no locks to break. There are no mental break downs. This is your basic investigation that follows up with a trial. I will admit the investigation side of things is slightly lacking, which makes sense since the game takes place in Industrial England. I mean, there is not a lot of evidence to find. It appeared to lean more heavily on the testimony. So this is really a plot heavy game. Even to the point that there is an option where you can treat it as a pure visual novel. The game story is broken into 2 parts that are intricately woven. In each part, there are 5 cases that need to be solved. I find them interesting and easy to solve. I had no problem really figuring out the twist to each case. And everything was resolved beautifully at the end.The animation and graphics are great and the soundtrack is brilliant and so memorable. The characters are different and unique. The extras are really good. The game has a trophy system. There is an art gallery, music and additional story sections. There is a little voice acting but a good grasp of reading is important. This was definitely worth getting if you are a fan of the Ace Attorney series. Even if you are new to the series, this is so worth playing. Since this is a prequel, you don’t need to know the other games. If you are not a fan of visual novels, this might not be for you. After 65+ hours of gameplay, I can confidently say I LOVE IT! I can’t wait for a sequel.
